The versions of the songs featured on this album were taken from the BBC Radio 1 show presented by John Peel and were recorded between 1979 and 1983. Each session featured 4 songs and are presented on the CD in chronological order. The recording details are as follows:

FIRST SESSION:
  • Recorded: 20th August 1979
  • Transmitted: 3rd September 1979
SECOND SESSION:
  • Recorded: 14th April 1980
  • Transmitted: 21st April 1980
THIRD SESSION:
  • Recorded: 29th September 1980
  • Transmitted: 6th October 1980
FOURTH SESSION:
  • Recorded: 29th January 1983
  • Transmitted: 21st February 1983

The only Peel Session song missing is a version of Bunker Soldiers recorded in 1983 for the fourth session. Andy McCluskey felt the first version was better and that having effectively one song on there twice was a bit redundant.

Intriguingly, Electricity had never been used during the Peel Sessions and the version featured here is the original recorded version that also featured on OMD's debut single on Factory records. This is the first and only time this version of Electricity has appeared on CD.

The CD booklet features recording details for each track and sleeve notes. There are also details on ordering OMD's CD back catalogue.

Pretending To See The Future has been misspelled as 'Pretending To See The Light' twice on the CD and inner booklet.

Andy had originally intended to feature a previously unreleased version of Electricity on this album. The version in mind was recorded by The Id at Greasby Library in 1978. The idea was abandoned due to the poor quality of the recording (although this recording was subsequently cleaned up and later issued on The Id EP).
