This reissue featured remastered tracks taken from the original master tapes for the album. The reissue also boasts additional tracks along with sleeve notes, photos and restored artwork.

Bunker Soldiers features a chorus that actually spells out the title 'BUNKER SOLDIERS' as random letters and the same letters translated into numbers.

Almost also featured as the B-Side to the single Electricity and the album version was used on the third release of the single.

Mystereality features saxophone by Martin Cooper.

Electricity is the same version featured on the third single release.

The Messerschmitt Twins takes its title from a nickname for Andy and Paul. The phrase popped into Andy's head during the night prompting him to write a song about it. It was actually while researching Messerschmitts that Andy spotted a reference to the Enola Gay leading to fresh inspiration.

Messages is the original version and not the Mike Howlett produced single version.

Julia's Song dates back to Andy and Paul's time in The Id and features lyrics by Julia Kneale who was also in The Id at the time.

Red Frame/White Light was inspired by a telephone box used by the band outside The Railway Inn public house on the Wirral.

Dancing is an experimental piece whose unusual sound was created using Dalek I Love You's Kawai synth.

Pretending To See The Future was written about being in the music industry and specifically about signing a record deal.

I Betray My Friends originally appeared as a B-Side track on the 1980 single Red Frame/White Light and also appears on the B-Sides compilation album Navigation.

Taking Sides Again originally appeared as a B-Side track on the 1980 single Messages. The track is an instrumental 'dub'version of Messages.

Waiting For The Man is a cover version of the Velvet Underground song which appears on their debut album The Velvet Underground And Nico. OMD's version originally appeared as an additional track on the 10" release of Messages.

The versions of Electricity and Almost were recorded in Cargo Studios and are referred to as the 'Cargo Versions'. This version of Electricity originally appeared on the second single release in 1980.

When Virgin embarked on this series of reissues they realised that they no longer had the artwork on file. This meant they had to recreate the original sleeve design.

Ironically, an article at the time in the design magazine Creative Review revealed where the original artwork was. Peter Saville was putting together a book that showcased his designs - including his sleeve design work. Photos in the article clearly showed boxes full of OMD album artwork!

The additional tracks on this release include the Hannett mixes of Almost and Electricity which had originally been recorded for the Factory label. In 1991, a series of Factory retrospective albums were released, including Martin and Tears In Their Eyes. Ironically, record label London didn't have access to the original master tapes and so couldn't include the Hannett versions of Electricity and Almost and had to use the Paul Collister mixes.

Chester Valentino was a pseudonym for OMD's then-manager Paul Collister.
