Mal Holmes had met singer Jo Mooney through a mutual acquaintance and began writing and working with her with a view to initially releasing an EP showcasing her work.

However, the plan was shelved when Mal had the opportunity of working with dance outfit First People. Instead, Jo's distinctive vocals were used to enhance the song Smile which marked the first release on Mal's new label Muzic2Burn.

Muzic2Burn replaced Mal's previous label Fin Music

Prior to working with Mal Holmes, Jo Mooney had performed with singer/songwriter Thea Gilmore and had also featured in a band called Dracula's Dentist(!)
