| Subtitled 'Sounds Of The Mersey 1978-2001', this compilation was dedicated
to followers of Liverpool Football Club. The tracks chosen for the album cover
a wide base of the Liverpool music scene from that period, including Echo And
The Bunnymen, China Crisis, The Mighty Wah! and The Lightning Seeds.
OMD's contribution, unusually, is Julia's Song - a track from their debut album
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark.
The album also features sleeve notes by John Peel.

| Most of the other contributions on this compilation featured well-known singles,
such as The Back Of Love from the Bunnymen and Lucky You by The Lightning Seeds.
So the choice of Julia's Song over more obvious contenders such as Enola Gay makes
this album an intriguing oddity.
Julia's Song had featured on a previous compilation - the 1979 Street To Street
album which included The Id's version of the song. |
