The unusual graphics that feature on
the sleeve were partially inspired by Andy and Paul's original musical
notation style. Unable to read or write music, they adapted a series
of symbols, each one representing different instruments. Although only 5,000 singles were produced, Electricity was not a limited edition
by choice. The difficult high temperature thermography procedure required by the
sleeve design managed to set the printers equipment on fire several times. The
printer finally despaired and called a halt to the production run at 5,000 copies.
Although the credits on the sleeve are correct, the credits on the label feature spelling errors: "Humphries and McKluskey" instead of "Humphreys and McCluskey" and "VC II Music" instead of "VCL II Music". The run-out grooves on side one read "Before" and side two reads
"After". |
