Intrigued by the idea of modern day record mixers working on some of the old OMD songs, Andy McCluskey and Virgin began looking at a list of songs and possible artists to work on them. Virgin suggested The Micronauts while Andy suggested Sash!, Apollo 440 and Moby.

The early plan was to produce an album's worth of mixes which would be issued with initial copies of The OMD Singles album. However, this proved too expensive and the idea was scrapped.

The remix of Enola Gay uses samples taken from a video documentary on the Enola Gay mission.

The remix of Electricity also uses a sample from Bunker Soldiers (a track from OMD's debut album).

Andy also commissioned remixes from more local Liverpool artists to work on some OMD songs including the Porn Kings (Enola Gay), Mulu (Joan Of Arc & Maid Of Orleans) and even Stuart Kershaw who did a mix of Enola Gay.

Moby's version of Souvenir managed to get on the playlist for BBC Radio 2.
