The original 12" remix was done by John Potoker. The band didn't like Potoker's mix of the song and decided to pursue a different approach with Tom Lord Alge. In the meantime, Virgin had printed up 5,000 sleeves which featured a credit for Potoker and claimed they didn't have the time to reprint them.

To complicate matters, copies of the Potoker mix did make it to the shops. The difference between this release and the Potoker version is as follows:

  • Sleeve states a catalogue number of VS888-13.
  • Front of sleeve features "Extended Remix By Tom Lord-Alge" note.
  • Back of sleeve credits states the same.
  • Record label states the same.
  • The intro on the Lord Alge mix fades-in.

A guitar part written by Graham Weir was so difficult that not even he could play it. As a result, the band drafted in noted French session musician Kamil Rustam to perform it.
