Andy and Paul had originally written a song called Suspicion in July 1987. When Andy couldn't make it to the studio for a few days, Paul added some lyrics finishing the song off. Determined the song was a potential single, the pair wrote a B side.

However, after recording the B side (now called Dreaming), Andy and Paul thought it was actually better than Suspicion. Virgin Records agreed and Dreaming was used as the A side. Suspicion remains unreleased.

Gravity Never Failed dated from the 1981 Architecture And Morality sessions. The song had originally been titled Georgia and was even briefly considered as a possible single. However, the track lost favour with the band during the recording sessions. It was subsequently shelved and the title Georgia given to a new song.

Dreaming was the last song the band wrote using the Fairlight CMI.
