Andy and Paul had originally written a song called Suspicion in July 1987.
When Andy couldn't make it to the studio for a few days, Paul added some lyrics
finishing the song off. Determined the song was a potential single, the pair wrote
a B side. However, after recording the B side (now called Dreaming), Andy and
Paul thought it was actually better than Suspicion. Virgin Records agreed and
Dreaming was used as the A side. Suspicion remains unreleased.
Dreaming proved to be a success in the USA which led to Virgin reissuing the
single in the UK.
This release was issued in a bagged gatefold sleeve with stickered cover. The
inner sleeve revealed an ad for The Best Of OMD album.
