This was a reissue on a format designed to replace the 7" single. The
3" CD never took off, but it's failure meant that releases such as Locomotion
became very rare.
Locomotion was originally a song about disabled people, although Andy had carried the phrase "Across every ocean, for the sake of locomotion" in his head for some time.
The sample used in The Avenue is taken from the Andrei Tarkovsky
film Stalker (1979). The film concerns The Zone - a strange place patrolled
by armed guards. The film's protagonist has the gifts that allow him to lead people
into The Zone to The Room - a place where people's wishes and hopes come true.
