Enola Gay had actually been written around the time of the first album but recording it for the Organisation album proved to be a frustrating experience.

The original recorded version had already started pressing when Andy decided he didn't like the mix. That original version differed in significant ways from the final version as it featured a slightly different drum machine intro and a much more laid-back vocal from Andy. With the help of producer Mike Howlett, they recorded new vocals at Advision Studios. In fact the final version of Enola Gay eventually ended up being a composition of various vocals taken from both the Ridge Farm and Advision sessions.

Enola Gay was also OMD's first big international hit, reaching No. 1 in Italy (OMD's first No. 1 position), France and Portugal.

Annex was a throwback to Andy and Paul's musical experiments outside of The Id when they first started writing songs together.

Some sleeves had a high gloss finish while others had a matt finish.

Some sleeves also featured the wording picked out in white.

The Enola Gay was the name of the B-29 bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima in August 1945. The pilot of the plane, Paul Tibbetts, had named the plane after his mother.
