US Tour
Well, here I am finally sitting down in our lovely hotel in Hollywood where both the manager and the accounts manager have given me photos showing them posing with us over 20 years ago in the 80s! I have even been in the pool today.
Last show tomorrow on what has really been a triumph of a tour. Toronto feels like it was years ago! We have mixed feelings.. we are tired.. some of the drives in the mid part of the tour were huge and even though we loved our trusty bus and fabulous driver Mr D.W. Spitier we are just about ready to have a few nights of proper sleep.
The audiences have varied between brilliant and amazing.. every night has been incredible, but I am now tired.. can't imagine how we did this for 3 months at a time in the 80s.. I guess we were younger.
As I am sure Lori can now see.. every show has a slightly different feel. The venue, the sound, the crowd make every night an individual experience. I am sure that we will have the usual strange empty feeling when it is all over.
The tour has proved that North America does indeed love us, and we have loved every concert. There have been the usual problems.. bass guitars cutting out, vocals going missing, forgotten lyrics.. etc, but the warmth of each audience gets us through any difficulty.
We have now got to decide the best way to follow this up! There are places that we missed.. Seattle, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Vegas and Florida.. to name a few. We may come back very very soon to fill those gaps, and then do another full North American tour next year.
But we also have plans to make another album. It is important not to get caught up in the "business" as we did in the past, and make sure that we keep enjoying being OMD again! And make the music the foundation of all that we do. Don't rush things. Do what we do, when we are ready, and keep the good feelings flowing.
I am now going to have a very large Mexican meal.. a few Margueritas... and a long sleep...
