June 24 - Southern Culture On The Skids. I have seen this band countless times in the last 23 years and they keep getting better.

Aug. 2 - Bryan Ferry. My wife surprised me this morning with news of a suitable 20th anniversary present for me: Bryan Ferry at the Ryman Auditorium. Very appropriate since Bryan Ferry fandom was the link that brought us together years ago.

Aug. 18 - Brian Wilson. When we saw Wilson was coming to town, we had to go! We almost went to Atlanta last year to see him, but the budget was not there. He's touring "Pet Sounds" for the last time live and with Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin onstage with him, he's got more authentic Beach Boys onstage with him than The Beach Boys® now do.

Okay doke, let's see what mischief my unemployed fingers have been up to recently
Electra Mustaine (29/06/2016, Glasgow) well, why not?
Sunburst Deluxe (09/07/2016, Wakefield) a truly amazing Be Bop Deluxe tribute band
Harriet (19/07/2016 and 20/07/2016, London) she is so good live and a lovely person. Mighty tall too at 6 feet!
Other Humans (27/07/2016, Glasgow) I really like this retro pop band
Um, stop me when you see a band name you actually recognise ...
The Dickies (10/08/2016, Edinburgh) ah, there you go, that one rings a distant bell
Pretty Vicious (19/09/2016, Glasgow) there is a buzz about this band. Let's see if they live up to the fuss
Norma Jean Martine (21/09/2016, London) what a voice!
Aquilo (17/10/2016, Glasgow) they are a little bit dull live but they play nice music
BEF supporting Heaven 17 (24/10/2016, Gateshead) BEF are scraping the barrel to find singers now but Heaven 17 are always good to see live
The Christians (24/11/2016, Edinburgh) still producing the goods live
Ben Montague (04/12/2016, Glasgow) as I do

and last but by no means least
WHITE (24/06/2016 in Glasgow, 30/07/2016 in North Shields, 13/08/2016 in Edinburgh) because they are "Britain's Most Exciting Live Band"

Just bought Tickets for

Ezra Furman Hebden Bridge Trades Club
The Divine Comedy Sheffield Student Union
The Divine Comedy Manchester Albert Hall (2017)
Pete Wylie Middlesbrough Westgarth Club
I'd write and tell you that I've burnt them all.

But you never send me your address and I've.

I've kept them anyway.

Long time, no update. But now ...
Noah Noah (01/09/2016, Glasgow) a really good pop band
BooHooHoo (05/09/2016, Edinburgh and 08/09/2016, Glasgow) A fantastic new electro-pop band and their debut EP is out soon
Steve McCrorie (10/09/2016, Stirling) not really my scene but a local artist called Sinny is supporting and I really like her piano music
July Talk (13/09/2016, Glasgow) an experiment!
Hannah Grace (03/10/2016, London) her voice is incredible
Honeyblood (06/10/2016, Glasgow) Kat Myres on drums has so much energy
Nina Nesbitt (09/10/2016, Glasgow) her star is fading. I wonder if she will do something special to re-ignite it
Panic Room (16/10/2016, London) this concert is being filmed for their live DVD Pledge release
Rumer (17/10/2016, London) to celebrate her new album release. It is always a pleasure seeing her live
Khruangbin (20/10/2016, Glasgow) another experiment
Bill Nelson (29/10/2016, Leeds) his "New Northern Dream" album release public first-play and a live set too, with Q&A session etc. Nice
Leddra Chapman (12/11/2016, Edinburgh) I love her voice
Phantogram (18/11/2016, Glasgow) I am not sure why I bought a ticket for them. Maybe this is just another experiment
Janet Devlin (25/11/2016, Edinburgh) she is very good live
Ben Montague (02/12/2016, Newcastle) I do like his music
Ben Montague (03/12/2016, Edinburgh) I do like his music
Nerina Pallot (10/12/2016, London) her annual Christmas extravaganza
Midge Ure (14/12/2016, Motherwell) promising to play a song from every album he was every on!
WHITE (16/12/2016, Glasgow) no gig list of mine is complete without this band. 22 shows and counting ...

and finally for now
Virgin Money Fireworks (28/08/2016 at Edinburgh castle. Yes, this is not a band thing but is a concert. It was excellent last year.

Well this year I have already seen Ennio Morricone (for the second time and he was fantastic!), Peter Hook and the Light, A-Ha, The Cult, Ian McCulloch, New Order at the Royal Albert Hall (totally awesome although not quite as good as the special show given by Peter Hook and the Light last year in Macclesfield on May 18th which I attended for my birthday and was completely amazing!), The Stone Festival where I saw Wilko Johnson, Marrillion, Steve Hackett and Rick Wakeman, and most recently Tears for Fears at Newmarket. They were wonderful.

And still to come: Midge Ure, Heaven 17, Gary Numan, Marsheaux and The Damned. WOO HOO
Go to sleep little earth, I was there at the birth, out of the cloud burst the head of the tempest

The picture you see is no portrait of me, it's too real to be shown, to someone I don't know

I have a couple of shows on deck:

I don't know exact dates, but I'm going to see:
The Proclaimers
Nothing but Thieves
Against Me
The Faint
Still Corners

All before November 2. I may buy tickets to the Struts for mid November.
I dance about ships and airplanes.

Playing catch up here but:

Sept. 8 - Dex Romweber - The only rock and roller born after WWII, in my opinion.

Sept. 10 - Weird Al Yankovic - Since he was playing in my town, I finally gave in to see this guy who has been making me laugh since sending in his home tapes to Dr. Demento in 1979. What a show! The best opening I've ever seen and it was hilarious all the way. Even when he was spoofing songs and artists I had no conception of. And I've never seen or heard an audience respond that powerfully - the cheering hurt my ears.

On the horizon? Nothing, though Midge Ure is trying to tempt me.

After consultation with my wife and friends it's been decided: We will see Midge Ure with band in Atlanta on October 15th. I suppose it is the closest I will ever get to Ultravox.

It was a last minute purchase, but I'm actually really excited to go see Dolly Parton on Sunday. My hillybilly bone is buzzing and I get to hear some banjos!!

I am also going to buy a Midge Ure ticket for when he's playing the Roxy here in Los Angeles in January. He's playing closer to my home, at the Coach House, but that's a proper sit down and have a lovely dinner and some dessert and then sit and nod gently to the music as you're digesting your meal -kind of a place. No thank you.

Good for you! I am jazzed about the set lists. Half of the "Vienna" album airing in a show that's 50% Ultravox and electric. This is the time to finally see him. I first heard Ultravox when I saw the "Passing Strangers" video in Sept. 1980 and was blown away. I had been waiting for this music! [p.s. I was already an OMD fan by then as I'd heard "Electricity" on "The Import Hour" on a local FM station] The Vienna tour came 90 miles away the very next month, but I was 17, had no car or way to get there. I figured I'd see the next tour maybe. There was no next US tour. Never saw them. Never saw Ure either. All of his dates in the last 20+ years over here have been one man shows with acoustic guitar. Thanks but no thanks. I am so down on electronic rock band people "going acoustic." He's certainly not doing that this time.

What have I been doing? Well, booking these ...
BooHooHoo (25/10/2016 Glasgow) supporting The Little Kicks
Other Humans (11/11/2016, Glasgow) their debut headline show
Emerald Sunday (13/11/2016, Edinburgh) a superb rock band
Charlotte Carpenter (17/11/2016, Glasgow) a rare outing over the border for this talented singer/songwriter
BooHooHoo (30/11/2016 Glasgow) yes, them again. This time their debut EP launch show
Honeyblood (08/12/2016, Glasgow) just because!
Harriet (14/12/2016, London) clashing with my Midge Ure gig in Motherwell. Decisions decisions
Mt. Doubt (15/12/2016, Edinburgh) a good up and coming local band
Time flies but I am not yet old
