I have whittled this list down to the bands you might have at least heard of
Pet Shop Boys (22nd February in Edinburgh). Hard as it might seem to you but i have never seen them live
July Talk (5th March in Edinburgh). They are a very good entertaining band
PINS (14th April in Glasgow, then 15th April in Edinburgh). Imagine, if you will, The Go-Gos but from Manchester. Such a good live band

Yes, it's hard "so hard" ;-)

I did not even buy their last album "SUPER" which is not so great ...
No concert for me last year!

So far

The Divine Comedy Manchester Albert Hall
Elbow Edinburgh Usher Hall
Howard Jones Stockton Arc
British Sea Power Manchester Ritz

Don't ask about Kraftwerk I'm still Smarting after a complete cock up over the tickets.
I'd write and tell you that I've burnt them all.

But you never send me your address and I've.

I've kept them anyway.

I'm sure mum and I will try to see Penguin Café at some point this year! They're always fantastic to see. As for me alone, I'll need to stop spending my money so enthusiastically first, then we'll see.

Still to come with tickets in hand…

March 18 - Roedelius
March 21/22 - Magnetic Fields
June 7 - Nick Cave + The Bad Seeds

I am greatly anticipating the Fall King Crimson tourdates for the US East Coast. The new lineup is a four drummer, double quartet configuration. The current set lists are amazing. Mel Collins, who had not been in the band since 1970 is back in the fold. He was wind instruments on the "Lizard" album; one of my favorites from the early period.

Let's see here we are now at:

16 February - Robert Henke Lumiere III - London (Barbican)
15 March - Manuel Gottsching E2-E4 - London (Barbican - I think)
17 March - Underworld - London (Ally Pally)
02 April - Pet Shop Boys - London (RAH)
23 April - The Orb + Friends (4 hour set) - London (South Bank Centre)
04 May - William Basinski - London (Round Chapel)
05 May - Depeche Mode - Stockholm (Friends Arena)
12 May - Midge Ure - Goteborg (Konserthuset - Stenhammerhallen)
13 May - Midge Ure - Stockholm (Sodra Teatern)
21 September - Sigur Ros - London (Hammy Apollo)

Edit - Midge now booked with the added bonus of William Basinski gig notification coming out of nowhere last night. The spectrum, it is wide.

Postpunkmonk - I came across your review online when I was searching for updates on Midge's US tour. Was it everything you said it was?

Additional shows pending: Orbital, Depeche North American dates (gonna try for Santa Barbara Bowl this time). Undecided on DMs London show, will decide if its worth it post Stockholm. Unsure of festival commitments for summer, tend not to like them but there is this one way out in the middle of nowhere that is in a disused mine...Croatia maybe? Somewhere like that.

Some more perhaps? Hmm, Ms Amhilde is rivalling my efforts! l I know I have been quiet but the bands I have seen so far this year are local ones that you have never heard of. But these, you will have
WHITE (10th March at the National Museum Of Scotland in Edinburgh) as you do every so often
Rachel Sermanni (24th March at Summerhall, Edinburgh) where my dad trained to be a vet!
BooHooHoo (30th March at Stereo, Glasgow) their single launch and the 1st year anniversary of the Last Night From Glasgow record label of which I am a fully paid up member
TeenCanteen (22nd April at Nice 'N' Sleazys, Glasgow) their EP launch gig
Atomic Kitten (15th July at PKD festival, Rosyth) not I am not kidding although I am actually going to see the amazing DORJA. I wonder if the kittens will even bother turning up or just cancel like they tend to do?
My Life Story (12th August at O2 ABC, Glasgow) part of a 90s line up including Dodgy, Sleeper, Space and The Bluetones.
The Icicle Works (25th November at O2 ABC, Glasgow) Ian did say they were finished playing live last year but I am not complaining that they are carrying on. They are such a fantastic live band
Fish (21st December at O2 ABC, Glasgow) yes, a December gig! He is playing the Clutching At Straws album in full live. That means he has run out of Marillion albums to play in full live and so he then plans to retire from music

And last but not least
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (19th August at the Flashback Festival, Worksop) headlining a rather good line-up of Belinda Carlisle, T'Pau, Heaven 17 and Kim Wilde. Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes!

Hey, Amhilde:

I saw your posting today and tried to PM you but even though the UI told me the message was sent, it's showing as in my outbox and not in my sent folder. Can you confirm receipt?

Foxx/Numan in your home city? It doesn't get much better than that! Have fun at the show.

I got that email earlier in the week but didn't see the inclusion of Foxx! Ah well, maybe this means he will play some smaller venues in the fall. I just can't abide with another Numan concert (unless another certain someone was lurking off stage somewhere).

Now holding for: Orbital (non festival dates), Midge Ure Band Electronica (UK dates hopefully to come for October) and please jesus let Gus Gus play somewhere other than Hull May Bank Holiday Weekend. Wrangler too for that matter.

We are nearly a quarter of the way through the year and the gigs for the latter half of the year are now appearing.
Barry Adamson (24th April in Glasgow) my curiosity has overtaken my mind with this one
My wee pal Emma Stevens (13th June in Glasgow) her only Scottish date of the tour
Harriet (14th June in London) a wee flight needed for that one
Panic Room (24th June in Glasgow) always a good show
The Dickies (17th July in Edinburgh) because I am making the most of them while they are still around
Belinda Carlisle (9th October in Glasgow) she is so good solo live and her backing band are superb
and My Life Story (18th August in Wakefield) this is the day before OMD play in Worksop so I am making a weekend of it and seeing this great band the day before
