Another compilation album of electropop arrives in the shape of Electric. This double CD features the ever-popular Enola Gay as well as contributions from Joy Division, Ladytron, Blancmange, New Order, Gary Numan and Goldfrapp.

A series of DVD releases puts the focus on a variety of film makers who have made a reputation for promo videos for various bands. This includes St˙phane Sednaoui, better known in OMD circles as being responsible for the photography used on the Liberator sleeve.

Others include Anton Corbijn, Chris Cunningham, Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry and Mark Romanek. Romanek has an OMD connection as he made the 1985 film Static which featured Sealand in the soundtrack.

Corbijn's DVD features the videos he directed for Propaganda, Echo And The Bunnymen, Depeche Mode and Joy Division amongst others.

More information is available on the Amazon website.

And on the subject of DVD's, we have a new OMD Survey. With the forthcoming OMD DVD release, what sort of content would you like to see?

Genie Queen have reached the No. 2 position in the Music Week Top 10 Upfront Club Breakers chart with the song Let The Music Play. The song has received great reviews from DJ's and plans for a release via the new White Noise label are scheduled for October.

Dazzle Ships returns to its roots care of Camilla Wilkinson. Camila's grandfather Norman Wilkinson was responsible for the Dazzle camouflage painting used on warships during the Second World War (and which influenced the sleeve design for Dazzle Ships).

Now Camilla is presenting a talk on the Dazzle painting technique and its influence on other artists at the ICA in London on the 17th August. The talk will involve the use of 20 slides (one of which will be the OMD sleeve) for a 6 minute presentation which will also use the Dazzle Ships track as music. Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. On 6th August 1945 the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima sparking a debate on the use of such weapons that continues to this day.

You can read more on ways to mark the anniversary via The BBC website and they also have a poignant photo slide-show looking at Hiroshima then and now.

As OMD fans will be aware, OMD released a single entitled Enola Gay back in 1980 (taken from their second album Organisation) which posed its own questions in the telling Songwords.

We're running a poll here on the News page asking you if you believe the Hiroshima bombing was necessary and there's also a continuing debate on the Enola Gay's mission here on the OMD Forum
