Intact are an Arizona based band consisting of Steven Bakos and Ken Porter. Ken had previously been in a band called The Diverge in Germany, but left to return to the US. Interested in forming a new outfit, Ken began looking for a singer. After meeting Steven they formed Intact and the band have been active for about a year. Intact launched a debut EP That's What I Want, receiving positive website reviews, and also appeared on some compilations. After coming to the attention of Synthphony Records they signed to the label in late 2000. Intact's debut album Inner Workings is currently out and their song Secret Love is doing the rounds in dance clubs. The band are also performing at the all-synthesiser event Synthcon this May. |
Sum up Intact in three words PURE EMOTIONAL ENERGY How did you first discover OMD? Steven: I first heard Secret in '85 at a club called "The Refuge" and fell in love with it.Ken: A friend of mine in Germany played the song Maid Of Orleans for me (years after it initially was released), and after that I immediately went to the store and bought pretty much everything I could find of OMD. Why did you choose to cover Secret? Both of us wrote down our favorite OMD songs and we narrowed it down from there. The deciding factor was Secret was Steven's favorite song and it was strong vocally for him as well. Do you have any other favourite OMD songs? Ken: Pretty much every song on Sugar Tax as well as Talking Loud And Clear, Maid Of Orleans, If You Leave, Stand Above Me and Telegraph. Steven: Probably (Forever) Live And Die and Dreaming. What other artists and music are you into? Ken: I listen to a lot of music, but Depeche Mode, Camouflage, Moskwa TV, De/Vision and Mesh are among my top favorites.Steven: Well, I have a rather long list as well. What's currently in my CD Player are Neuropa, Evil's Toy and Depeche Mode. What plans have you got for Intact in the future? We're currently playing out to promote our debut CD Inner Workings. We're also working on another cover song for an upcoming tribute CD, a collaboration of an original track with Neuropa, as well as a remix album. Also, we have planned to release an EP at the beginning of next year. |
