The Top Ten : Electropop programme finally has a broadcast date. As previously reported on the News page, the programme will explore the history of the band along with interviews with band members. The programme also promises some rare early footage of the band in action.

The scheduled date for broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK is March 3rd at 9:00pm.

29th January 2001

The OMD Album Discography is now online. Apologies for the (slight) delay but there were a few last minute tweaks and adjustments to the Discography as a whole.

Atomic Kitten have been receiving quite a bit of coverage in the press recently - specifically regarding the future of band member Kerry Katona.

Kerry has decided to leave Atomic Kitten to pursue her relationship with Westlife's Bryan McFadden. Kerry is pregnant and understandably wants to put the welfare of the baby first.

As a result, a new band member has been drafted in to replace Kerry. Jenny Frost, who was previously part of 1999 Eurovision hopefuls Precious will be taking Kerry's place.

An OMD fan gathering is currently under consideration for later this year.

Paul Turner is responsible for the idea and is testing the water to judge the level of interest. If you would like to see an OMD fan event this year, then drop by the OMD 2001 website at www.omd2001.org.uk and add your name to the mailing list.

The Albums section of the Discography is now online. Sleeve shots, release details, notes and trivia are all available for OMD's UK album catalogue.

Two new sections will shortly be added to the Disocgraphy which will cover Books and Videos. Further sections are in development.

More news on Messages - Modern Synthpop Artists Cover Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - the covers album being promoted by Lexicon magazine. Ninthwave Records, the label producing the album, are already accepting pre-orders for the CD via Lexicon's order page: http://www.lexiconmagazine.addr.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi

The pre-order price is $12 ($14 outside North America), the regular price will be $2 higher.

However, for those people who wish to place an early order, Lexicon does advise that the CD is not expected to ship until April.

Virgin have pencilled in a release date for the B-Sides album in April. We hope to have more details, including a track listing, very shortly.

OMD fans in the UK will want to stay in tonight. As previously reported, the BBC screen the first part of I Love The 1980's at 9.00pm. OMD feature as the band of 1980 and the show features a brief interview with Andy exploring OMD's impact on the 80's music scene.

Fresh from updating his World Of OMD website, Pat Fetty has been asked to provide sleeve notes for Lexicon magazine's forthcoming OMD covers album.

Andy has recently been interviewed by Radio Merseyside in conjunction with the artists that Engine Records have been developing.

Atomic Kitten fans should note that Kerry has been busy with appearances in Hello! magazine along with a rather revealing feature in Sky magazine.

Regular visitors might recall Lexicon Magazine's's planned album featuring artists covering classic OMD songs. The album is getting closer to completion and is scheduled for release in March 2001 and we also have details of the track listing:

A Happy New Year to everyone - and as the year 2001 dawns the Official OMD Website does some archiving. There's now two News Archives for the News page, the Guestbook archives have been thoroughly reworked (along with some cosmetic changes to the front page) and more adjustments and tweaks will be made during the week.

As previously reported on the News page, Andy McCluskey has been interviewed for a new BBC TV programme looking at the music and culture of the 1980s. I Love The 1980s will feature a section on OMD and their influence on the music of the 1980s and is scheduled for broadcast on 13th January this year.

OMD will also feature in a new Channel 4 programme:Top Ten Electropop. The programme will look at a number of artists and bands including the Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Erasure & Gary Numan. For OMD's section, the programme has conducted interviews with Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys and Mal Holmes. The show will explore the history of the band along with some classic stories from OMD's past. The programme is scheduled for broadcast in the Spring.

Atomic Kitten aren't slowing down for the New Year. The girls have a brand new single Whole Again released on 29th January.
