Following on from the news that OMD are considering to perform at the forthcoming Night Of The Proms event, please note that the band are still in negotiations and that their appearance has not yet been confirmed. Anyone who purchases tickets for the event at this point in time should be aware that we cannot guarantee OMD's appearance.

An update on the plan of action for OMD's live shows has been established following a meeting this week between Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. At this stage they are looking at starting rehearsals in the summer after Paul and Claudia have completed their tour with OneTwo.

Paul will also be sending on some song ideas to Andy this week as the new OMD album starts to shape up.

The band have also had offers from the USA to perform live in America. The offers are being considered and may well fit into the band's schedule for the autumn.

OMD are also due to record an appearance on German TV show Formel Eins on March 8th. The performance (which will also include Martin Cooper) is for Kabel 1 and is being recorded at Bavaria Studios ZDF in Munich.

The band have 10 guest list tickets. Because it is unlikely that the band will be taking the Architecture & Morality shows to Germany in the autumn, Andy has proposed that the tickets go to German fans first. So the plan at this stage is to see just which German fans can actually make it on the night. If it's more than 10 people then we will run a lottery for the tickets.

Also Capitol/EMI in Germany are interesed in signing the new OMD album directly.

We've had a request to look at the idea of OMD fans trading copies of live OMD shows via the OMD Forum. This shouldn't be an issue as long as they're being traded only and no money is changing hands.

1st January 2006

As previously reported, 2006 could well be the OMD Renaissance year with the reformation of the band now officially announced. To recap, Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Mal Holmes and Martin Cooper will be returning as OMD with concerts and a new album on the way. Joining them for live shows will be Stuart Kershaw. Here's what's on the schedule:

  • OMD perform Architecture & Morality live
  • A brand new OMD album
  • Extensive European tour
  • Remastered Dazzle Ships album
  • OMD DVD
  • Unreleased material album

Outside of those plans, don't forget that Paul Humphreys and Claudia Brücken will be embarking as OneTwo with an album and live shows on the way. Plus, Mal Holmes will be continuing to work with more artists via his Muzic2Burn project.

Obviously, regular visitors will be aware that some of these projects have suffered delays and setbacks, but the OMD Website will continue to flag up developments and news as it comes in.

We also have a new Poll here on the news page asking what your thoughts are on the OMD Reformation. We also have a brand new Survey asking you which OMD album would you like the band to do a live showcase for next.
