Following on from the recent release of We Love You - the OMD tribute CD, plans are already underway for We Love You 2. Jim Shilts writes with details of the new CD: "We would like to invite all of the artists back from We Love You as well as any new artists who would like to take a crack at covering an OMD track".

The plan for the CD was to initially focus on a Dazzle Ships theme but will also include a mix of cover versions.

The deadline for submissions is January 30th 2004. No release date has been scheduled but Jim expects production to be faster than on the original We Love You.

A new OMD Fansite is up which also features WAP access at www.j.domd.mywap.o2.co.uk. The site features polyphonic ringtones, composer ringtones and picture galleries.

An interesting topic on the OMD Forum deals with OMD cover versions by foreign artists. You can get more info regarding some German cover versions via Hagen Schmitt's fansite at www.hagen-schmitt-online.de/omd.htm

Meanwhile, Wayne from Macondo writes (regular visitors may recall that Macondo covered Tesla Girls on the Messages tribute album) with some updates. A dancefloor companion to the Macondo album Up Here For Thinking, Down There For Dancing is being put together under Wayne's guidance. The album, which will be entitled Down There For Dancing, will feature remixes of the original album tracks by artists such as Ganymede, White Town, Komputer and Bit Pixel amongst others.

Wayne also mentions that he's compiled an album of contemporary electronic pop called Robopop due for release on 25th January 2004 which includes artists such as Client, Alpinestars, Laptop and White Town amongst others. More info on this release via www.robopop.com

On a lighter note, watch out for a tribute to rock outfit The Darkness. Scheduled to coincide with the release of The Darkness' Christmas single Get Your Hands Off My Woman, the parody version will be entitled Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Darkness. The single, released on the Guided Missle label, is rumoured to feature a "deliberately cheap keyboard version" of the the single. More info via: www.guidedmissile.co.uk.
